11th Novemeber GICs BASICs talk

There was an excellent talk tonight from GICS and Dr Colville Laird, the director of education for BASICS Scotland, regarding prehospital cardiac arrests and the upcoming WILDCAT trial in NHS Grampian.

There was quite a lot of valuable discussion towards the end about the logistics and challenges of trying to both supply and man 100 community AEDs as well as train the 3-400 people that would carry and operate them, and also how to get the public engaged and participating in training and application of CPR.

I would definitely recommend coming along to these meetings if you get the chance. Tonight was more geared towards logistics, outcomes and recruitment than the actual method of BLS, but it was a good opportunity to meet all the different professions and get some 'networking' going if nothing else! And I think Liam will agree that the free food was a nice bonus.

Apparently GICS have a new website where you can sign up to their mailing list and check out their upcoming events. http://www.gics.scot/
